Network CEO Receives Prestigious 2009 Ethics in Business Award

On November 12, 2009, the Richardson , Texas Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Clubs of Richardson presented Alice Mae Britt, Network's Chief Executive Officer, with the prestigious 2009 Ethics in Business Award. Britt was the only recipient of this distinction "for her demonstration of high ethical standards in business and service."

For more than 20 years, the Richardson Chamber of Commerce has honored local Richardson businesses at a special luncheon event each year called the Annual Business & Industry Awards Luncheon to recognize Richardson businesses and organizations for their many contributions to the local economy and the community.

Alice Mae Britt has been Chief Executive Officer of Network of Community Ministries, Inc. for two and a half years. In that time, Network has grown in revenue generation, organizational effectiveness, and community relations.

" Alice's quiet, calm, caring demeanor is a special gift---truly a visionary with exceptional skills. She is dynamic, capable, accomplished and deserving of this year's Ethics in Business Award," stated Network Chairman of the Board, Bill Cavanaugh.

Britt has an exemplary record in nonprofit management, program services and fund acquisition spanning nineteen years. Prior to Network, Inc., she was Chief Executive Officer of the Todd M. Beamer Foundation created by Lisa Beamer following her husband's death on United Flight 93 from which the slogan "Let's Roll" became known. Other roles throughout her nonprofit career include working for the National American Red Cross ( Washington , D.C. ), Heifer International ( Little Rock , Arkansas ), and World Neighbors, Inc. ( Oklahoma City , Oklahoma ). Britt has served on several committees, task forces, and boards at the local, state and national levels, including a former council appointment on the City of Irving ’s community development block grant committee. She is also a former nominee for the Irving Chamber of Commerce’' Women's Hall of Fame.

"I am deeply honored to receive the 2009 Ethics in Business Award for my work on behalf of Network in the City of Richardson, Texas," stated Britt. "With the help of the vibrant Richardson community, a phenomenal staff and dedicated volunteer team, we have created new hope for thousands." Since Britt joined Network just over two years ago, the organization has undergone a comprehensive redevelopment organization-wide.

Also recognized at this signature event were Richard Gilman, M.D., RISD Superintendent Carolyn Bukhair, Greenway Investment Company, ELCAN Optical Technologies, Richland College, DFW Chinatown, Twin Rivers Senior Living, the University of Texas at Dallas, and Owens Foods. This outstanding event held at the Hyatt Regency North Dallas-Richardson Hotel was sponsored this year by Frost Bank of Texas , the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, and the three Rotary Clubs Richardson.
