NETWORK TOOLS 4 SCHOOL PROJECT-A HUGE SUCCESS
August 31, 2009— On Saturday, August 22, cars and people lined up with vouchers in hand ready and excited to get school supplies to start the new school year off right. School supplies were distributed to 460 families and 1184 children from 4 school districts, RISD, DISD, PISD and GISD.
Many area churches, organizations and individuals collected supplies and brought them to NETWORK for this project. Other groups helped sort and package the supplies while additional volunteers helped distribute the supplies to the families. Without all of these faithful volunteers, this program would not have been a success.
“This program is just one way that we strive to meet the needs of the community. It is a major project that reaches into the lives of our children and youth to give them the right tools to start the year off right with a focus on learning,” said Alice Mae Britt, CEO of NETWORK.
With over 17,000 children in RISD on free or reduced lunch , NETWORK is committed to the children of Richardson and Dallas and continually strives to provide for those children in need.
