NETWORK Receives Help From Boy Scouts

February 25, 2009--The Circle 10 Council Boy scouts made their annual “Scouting for Food” delivery to NETWORK of Community Ministries, Inc on Saturday February 21 st.  Realizing that there are thousands of families in the area that are in need, the Boy Scouts remained true to their oath of “helping others at all times.” The Boy Scouts delivered 13,696 pounds of food to NETWORK, an increase over 2008.

“This year’s “Scouting for Food” drive is critical as the tough economic times have increased NETWORK’s requests for assistance,” said Robin Wilson, NETWORK’s director of Emergency Services. “NETWORK is extremely grateful to the Boy Scouts for their commitment to the community.”

Since its beginnings in 1988, “Scouting for Food” has evolved into the largest door-to-door food collection effort in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. To date over 448,000 cans have been collected for the 2009 “Scouting for Food” drive and will be distributed to 90 different food banks.  Collection at local Tom Thumb stores will continue through the month of February.

The NETWORK of Community Ministries, founded in 1985, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to caring, coaching and empowering neighbors in need as they seek an improved quality of life.  NETWORK also offers help through programs, which include the Adolescent and Children’s Clinic, Emergency Services, and The Seniors’ Net.
