NETWORK RECEIVES A TEXAS ONESTAR SCHOLARSHIP
July 2, 2009 -Network of Community Ministries has been selected by the OneStar Foundation for a scholarship in Organizational Assessment. The organizational excellence scholarships awarded by the State through OneStar help build the capacity of organizations, including organizational trainings, consulting, conferences and other professional development activities. OneStar recognizes Network as an important resource in addressing the needs of fellow Texans with its work and commitment to the local community.
“Network is pleased to receive this state-supported scholarship,” remarked E. A. McDowell, Board President. “Network is about to close its five year strategic plan, and during 2010 such an assessment will give us the guidance we need to begin updating that plan.”
From August 1 st through December 31, 2009, Network will be working closely with TCC Group, Inc., the consulting firm selected by OneStar, to analyze its adaptability, leadership, management and technical capacities, as well as its organizational culture. TCC Group will then prepare a report illustrating the strengths and providing recommendations for future growth and change.
This organizational assessment report will be used as a (1) starting point for discussions; (2) suggested checklist for changes; (3) barometer for comparison with other organizations; (4) method to track organization growth and development; (5) or a method for involving select board members in discussing organizational capacities.
The scholarship provided by OneStar Foundation is valued at over $300 per organization, with possible follow-up activities valued at up to $5,000 per organization.
This organizational assessment tool has been used with hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the United States and provides an accurate perspective of an organization based on the internal knowledge gained from the input of leaders and staff.
The NETWORK of Community Ministries, founded in 1985, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving those in need in the Richardson Independent School District community.
