NETWORK - NEWSEXXONMOBIL INTERN JOINS NETWORKJune 18, 2009-RICHARDSON, TX: The NETWORK of Community Ministries is pleased to announce Ms. Brittany Vertin, a Richardson resident, as its ExxonMobil intern this summer. Vertin was selected by NETWORK from numerous college students who applied for the opportunity, and she began on June 8 th as the Development Assistant for fund development, special events, marketing, and public relations. Vertin represents the very first year that NETWORK has participated in the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program. This program began in New York City in 1971 and has now expanded to 10 states, Dallas being the largest. The Community Summer Job Program provides full-time students the opportunity to participate in an eight-week, paid internship that gives them experience in a wide range of nonprofit organizations. Vertin is the daughter of Tom and Stacey Vertin and has a brother, Bill, 18, and a sister, Bailey, 14. She attended St. Mark’s CatholicSchool in Plano until 8 th grade, graduated high school from Ursuline Academy of Dallas and will continue on her tract as a Finance and Accounting Junior at the University of Oklahoma in the fall. At the University of Oklahoma, Brittany participates in programs including the J.C. Penney Leadership Program and Honors College Ambassadors and is Vice President of Finance for Delta Delta Delta. She has received numerous scholarships including the James L. Nicholson Alumni award, the OU Club of Dallas scholarship, and the University Scholar scholarship. Last spring, she tutored athletes and this coming fall she will be working as the Business Career Services Assistant. Brittany likes to devote herself to a wide range of activities and also is passionate about community service. While doing all of this, she has maintained a 4.0 in the HonorsCollege. “I already can see why NETWORK is such a well-supported, thriving organization,” stated Vertin. “Its leaders and volunteers show true compassion for all members of the Richardson community and give endlessly of themselves in order to benefit the wellness of others.” The staff and volunteers of NETWORK look forward to the contributions Vertin will bring to the organization and thanks ExxonMobil for its support as well. The NETWORK of Community Ministries, founded in 1985, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving those in need in the RichardsonIndependentSchool District community.
