Home MEET OUR CEO Our Chief Executive OfficerAlice Mae Britt, a veteran in the philanthropic community, is often described as a “servant leader”. She began her new role July 2, 2007 at Network of Community Ministries, and since her arrival the organization has energized its strategic plan. An active member of the Christian Stewardship Association, Britt has an exemplary record in nonprofit management, program services and fund acquisition spanning 20 years. Previously, she served for three years as Chief Executive Officer of the Todd M. Beamer Foundation, d/b/a Heroic Choices, created by Lisa Beamer following her husband’s death on United Flight 93. Britt was instrumental in guiding the operations and the subsequent transition of this post-episodically established organization for children traumatized by the 9/11 tragedy. Britt began her professional experience in higher education as an instructor (Southern University), assistant professor ( Louisiana State University) and associate professor ( Wiley College), Director of Institutional Advancement ( Eastfield College), and Director of Development ( University of Central Oklahoma). Adjunct Lecture work was done at the University of Texas and the University of Louisiana. Following the passing of her youngest brother, Britt decided to make a career change to the charitable giving arena. In 1990, her first role in her new career path was as a grant writer for SER National, Inc., the largest service organization in the United States supporting literacy, training and development for the Latino community. In this pivotal career move, Britt would go on to become national planner and director of programs for the entire network of chapters in 17 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Other roles her nonprofit career include are: serving as Texas Finance Associate with the National American Red Cross (Washington, D.C.), acting as the liaison between all Texas chapters and the national office; as Central Regional Director for Heifer International (Little Rock, Arkansas) overseeing operations in seven states, and as Chief Development Officer for World Neighbors, Inc. (OKC, OK), managing six regional and oversees offices. A native of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Britt has served on several committees, task forces, and boards at the local, state and national levels. A civic volunteer, Britt values most her involvement with organizations devoted to serving children and families. Britt recently received the 2009 Rotary Ethics in Business Award, the only recipient of this distinction "for her demonstration of high ethical standards in business and service." Additionally, she currently represents 10 city locations for 11 Kiwanis clubs as Lt. Governor for Division 37 of the KI Texas Oklahoma District. Since Britt joined Network, Inc., the organization has received the following recognitions: 2010 Best In America Charity with the Local Independent Charities of America, 2009 Crystal Charity Ball Benefactor, 2009 Texas OneStar Scholarship Recipient, 2008 Best Local Charity Choice Award, 2008 North Texas Food Bank Model Agency Award, and 2008 RISD Spirit Award among others. Britt holds a bachelor of science degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University ( Greensboro, NC), a master of arts degree from California State University ( Sacramento, CA) and a Certificate of Study from Exeter College, University of Oxford ( Oxford, England). Britt has three children: Tasashama (35), Brandon (30) and Steven (16). |
